Happy 29th of February! It's time to LEAP into the 2020 contest season for Morgan, with his first event of the year being Surfest (back in Newcastle) starting on Monday the 2nd of March. Then to Manly for the Sydney Surf Pro on the 9th and then the big one on the Gold Coast, his debut event on the WCT the Corona Open, event window March 26 to April 5th.
Here he is picking up five of his 'step up' Live Wire models. 5'11 to 6'2. The bottom shot is with yet unnamed experimental model (that he's loving).

Morgan Cibilic and Adam Robertson blaze at the Australian Boardriders Battle in Newcastle!16/2/2020
What an epic weekend of competition at this years ABB (Australian Boardriders Battle) in Newcastle. Another final decided in the dying seconds, this year taken out by the Northshore Club.
Morgan's Merewether club, defending champions just missed out on the semis while Adam Robertson's Torquay narrowly missed the finals. Anyone who watched would've seen and heard the buzz around the Smiley Face model ridden by both guys. Some of the commentary was truly glowing. Robbo was to be awarded Male surfer of the event but unfortunately couldn't stay for the ceremony with a flight to catch. His fluro yellow 6'2 'One of Will's' caught everyones attention. Between heats he was flat out taking orders from his team mates. So boards off to Vicco for Todd Rosewall, Harry Mann, Cahill Bell-Warren and Jack Perry. The phone has been running hot! Join the blog and tell us what you thought of the action? I did an interview with Swellnet that was published today, It's about me shaping Will Webber Surfboards for 2020 CT surfer Morgan Cibilic. Check it out here...
The first board I shaped for Morgan Cibilic was in 2011. He was 12, it was 4'9. We used to get away with one or two boards a year back then. He's now 20, the board 5'9 and I'll probably shape him more boards this year than all the past years combined! Was great to spend some time in the bay recently, talking about last years successes and the coming year. #yeahmorgs2020
Here's his WCT/QS Aussie leg shopping list: 5'9 SFOG (Smiley Face Original) 5'9 SF (Smiley Face 2020) 5'9 SF EPS 5'9 LW (Live Wire 2020) 5'9 LW EPS 5'10 LW x 2 5'11 LW x 2 6'0 LW 6'0 LWMM (Morgs Model - higher nose rocker from his 2018 boards) 6'1 LW 6'2 LW (plus a 5'8 Zirtech and 5'8, 5'10 of a new design, that I want him to try) With the Australian leg of the WCT kicking off at Snapper, on the 26th of March, Morgan Cibilic's quiver refinement is well and truly underway. Straight off the bat, the 2020 versions of the Will Webber Surfboards Live Wire and Smiley Face have been looking great. With a reasonable East swell due this week, we're planning to get a clip together to show some of the action from home. Below are a couple of shots, on the 5'9 SF, from Newcastle based surf photog Jason @J2SnapImages, while Morgs was back in the Steel City for his Merewether Boardriders congratulatory shindig. P.S. don't forget to use the tag #yeahmorgs2020 when posting shots this year.
Chud Spivin's back and he has his own page too. Check it out here. Meanwhile let's take a look at one of Chud's past adventures...
Chud’s behavior has become self-destructive. Trout is no longer around to guide him, as he’s left for a surf trip to Sri Lanka, then India. Openly drinking in the commentary booth, slurring, and belching, even breaking out into bizarre, poetic rants. That, only the local vagrants seem to understand, as they’d be heard yelling back, as they rummaged, through the contest sites bins. It wouldn’t be long before Chud was amongst them. CONGRATULATIONS MORGS! Morgan Cibilic qualifies for the WCT. Rated 111 on the WQS at years end 2018, he improves 100 places in his toughest year of competition, to finish 11th.18,100 points has him filling the final spot for next years Dream Tour.We have a fun three months ahead of us at Will Webber Surfboards working on his Aussie assault quiver.A mix of Live Wires, Smiley Faces and Zirtechs. Bring on 2020!! Now rated #16, Morgan was due to compete in the Rip Curl Pro in Peniche but while practicing punts he did a grade 3 tear to his MCL! Things looked bleak, he only had 5 weeks to heal up enough to compete at Haliewa. After putting in the hours at Fluid Physio and with knee brace in tow he boarded the plane to The Islands.
Not missing a beat in his surfing, a 25th at Haliewa and 17th at Sunset, with some stand alone moments, has him sitting at #11 on the QS ratings! It all comes down to Pipe results now, to see if Morgan qualifies for the WCT next year. 2019 Hawaiian quiver. 6'0, 6'6 and 6'8 Will Webber Surfboards After a lacklustre start to 2019 it was time for Morgan Cibilic to head off to South Africa to enter his first WQS 10,000 Prime event. After progressing a couple of rounds taking out some big names, he placed 37th and received 1,000 points. The same amount as his win in the QS 1,000 the year before on Will Webber Surfboards!
