WSL cancel the entire Australian leg, maybe the entire year of comps. Morgan Cibilic will have to wait to show off his talents on the big stage.Meanwhile he has been smashing some local breaks waiting for the next call.
Morgan Cibilic and Adam Robertson blaze at the Australian Boardriders Battle in Newcastle!16/2/2020
What an epic weekend of competition at this years ABB (Australian Boardriders Battle) in Newcastle. Another final decided in the dying seconds, this year taken out by the Northshore Club.
Morgan's Merewether club, defending champions just missed out on the semis while Adam Robertson's Torquay narrowly missed the finals. Anyone who watched would've seen and heard the buzz around the Smiley Face model ridden by both guys. Some of the commentary was truly glowing. Robbo was to be awarded Male surfer of the event but unfortunately couldn't stay for the ceremony with a flight to catch. His fluro yellow 6'2 'One of Will's' caught everyones attention. Between heats he was flat out taking orders from his team mates. So boards off to Vicco for Todd Rosewall, Harry Mann, Cahill Bell-Warren and Jack Perry. The phone has been running hot! Join the blog and tell us what you thought of the action? I did an interview with Swellnet that was published today, It's about me shaping Will Webber Surfboards for 2020 CT surfer Morgan Cibilic. Check it out here...
With the Australian leg of the WCT kicking off at Snapper, on the 26th of March, Morgan Cibilic's quiver refinement is well and truly underway. Straight off the bat, the 2020 versions of the Will Webber Surfboards Live Wire and Smiley Face have been looking great. With a reasonable East swell due this week, we're planning to get a clip together to show some of the action from home. Below are a couple of shots, on the 5'9 SF, from Newcastle based surf photog Jason @J2SnapImages, while Morgs was back in the Steel City for his Merewether Boardriders congratulatory shindig. P.S. don't forget to use the tag #yeahmorgs2020 when posting shots this year.
